Craig Beattie
Programme Leader - Engineering Degree Apprenticeships
Craig studied Mathematics at UCLan, and has since achieved an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from Lancaster University and a Postgraduate Certificate in Mathematics Education from the University of Wales.
Craig has been an external consultant to Pearson UK for the BTEC Higher National engineering programmes and is a Member of the IET.
Sikander Yasin
Programme Leader - Nuclear Engineering
Sikander graduated from the University of Manchester with a Master’s Degree in Aerospace Engineering with Management. He then went on to spend five years working in marketing.
Sikander has since been awarded an MSc in Nuclear Science and Technology from the University of Manchester, and holds membership of both the Energy Institute and the Nuclear Institute.
Dan Buckley
Programme Leader - Aerospace Engineering
Daniel graduated with a BEng (Hons) Electronic Engineering from the University of Central Lancashire. He has since completed an MSc in Electronic Engineering and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education, both from Lancaster University.
Before moving into education, Daniel began his career as an electronics field engineer with responsibilities including design, installation and maintenance.
Maddie Langford Paden
Nuclear Science Lecturer
Madeleine has studied in the nuclear industry to doctoral level, graduating her PhD in Nuclear Chemistry at The University of Manchester in collaboration with the Idaho National Laboratory. She also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Education.
Madeleine has also attended the Dalton Cumbrian Facility (part of the Dalton Nuclear Institute) as a visiting researcher.
Alistair Teasdale
Renewable Energy Engineering Lecturer
Alistair has studied a BEng (Hons) in Mechatronics Engineering, awarded by Lancaster University, and an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering at the University of Central Lancashire.
Alistair has a background in energy storage, researching the integration of supercapacitors and battery storage to improve energy generation systems. He has experience with the use of software simulation to model performance
Ghassan Mahadi
Renewable Energy Engineering Lecturer
Ghassan obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electronic and Instrumentation Engineering, and subsequently went on to the University of Central Lancashire for an MSc in Renewable Energy Engineering.
Ghassan has years of experience in different fields such as Oil and Gas, renewable, and green technologies, serving in a variety of engineering and project manager roles during this time.
Jordan Senft
Aerospace Engineering Lecturer
Jordan graduated from University of Central Lancashire (UCLan) having completed a Master of Engineering with Honours in Aerospace Engineering. He also served as Secretary of UCLan Engineering Society, was the UCLan team lead on the Spaceport America Cup and a the IMechE UAS challenge.
Upon graduation Jordan accepted a graduate position within a team of experienced stress engineers, focusing on structural subtantistion of aerospace installations.
Mick Smith

John Mcgeever
Engineering Lecturer and Apprenticeship Assessor
John also came through an apprenticeship route, as a BAE Systems apprentice and a toolmaker by trade. He has also worked in Iran as an engineering trainer and instructor within the aircraft industry.
John has vast experience as an apprentice workplace trainer, which he embeds to support the Degree Apprenticeship programme as a workplace assessor and tutor.
